Solar hiccups

So our solar is running…kind of…

I norticed the other day that – despite the brilliant late morning winter sun it was barely producing a kwh…

Endless Energy responded quickly “- apparently there is ‘something’ that needs to be done to the meter “…It may just be a setting as the meter change has not been done yet….” I’m not sure what changes need to be made to the meter as this is news to me but it is totally frustrating to have sun and know that it is not either feeding the house or going back into the grid…

The hot water diverter is a great idea – especially if you don’t have a wetback – as ALL my showers since the inspector flicked the switch to ‘ON” have been free courtesy of the big fusion reactor in the sky…

Hoping for an update early in the new week and full production soon after…

  1. So a week later, the hiccups continue….

What they omitted totally to tell me before, during or after my accepting their quote is that our local power company – in our case, the Lines Company – has to approve the installation once it has been signed off and then either – depending which response one reads – ‘change the meter’ or ‘make changes to the meter’ which either way, I will be billed for on my power bill.

Needless to say, I am more than a bit miffed about additional expenses when I thought all the costs were kit and kaboodle part of the quote that I accepted. I think this is really misleading and incredibly poor business practice. I would not have even known about this if I had not noticed the reduced power production and queried this.

I am not sure if there is a problem with the meter as the company asked for and was sent a pic of my meter and did not raise any issues with it,

This morning, they advised that The Lines Company had accepted the sign-off certification and “…we will send the approval to your retailer now for them to initiate the meter change…” Whatever that means…

All this is really frustrating, not just because I can only export a trickle back to the grid but because I so badly want this to work and work well so I can encourage the rest of our village to go solar as well…
